The tour of 7 French models in Tehran made news!

Newspapers published glowing descriptions of the visitors, frequently emphasizing their elegance and refined manners. Some journalists wrote with admiration, portraying the visit as a sign that Iran was becoming a more cosmopolitan nation. Others adopted a more sensational tone, speculating about secret “fashion shows” being held inside the hotel or private parties attended by diplomats and socialites. These rumors—often exaggerated or completely fabricated—fueled the curiosity of readers. Tehran’s popular weeklies, known for their bold headlines and fascination with European culture, devoted entire sections to the “Caron Girls,” as they were unofficially called.

One of the most discussed aspects of the visit was the question of the models’ daily activities. According to official statements, they were scheduled to participate in private promotional events for Caron’s distributors in Iran, meet with importers, and present the company’s new perfume line to select audiences. Yet the lack of public fashion shows, combined with the secrecy surrounding their itinerary, created fertile ground for speculation. Some Tehran newspapers expressed frustration, arguing that if the purpose of the visit was truly promotional, the public should be allowed to attend at least one fashion event. Others suggested that the models were being kept out of sight due to concerns that their presence might upset conservative families or religious figures.
