One of the key developments in the festival’s history occurred between 2015 and 2022 when it was split into two distinct segments. The national festival, which took place in February, focused on showcasing domestic productions and premieres of the most notable films produced within the country. The international segment, held in April, was dedicated to films from other countries and allowed for a greater range of international participation. This bifurcation allowed the festival to cater to both local and global audiences and create a space where different cultural narratives could be explored and discussed.
However, in 2022, the festival reverted to a unified format, bringing both the national and international segments together once again. This decision allowed for a more cohesive event, which took place from February 1 to 11 each year. By merging the two sections, the organizers were able to create a more integrated experience for participants and audiences alike, ensuring a broader range of films and discussions that reflect the current global cinematic trends.
