Closing ceremony of the 44th Fajr Film Festival

For documentary filmmaking, the Diploma of Honor for Best Director was presented to Hamed Saadat for “Forest of Faem.” The film was recognized for its patient observation and thoughtful exploration of its subject matter.

The Crystal Simorgh for Best Documentary Director went to Mohammad Awazzadeh for “For My Daughter,” a deeply personal work that resonated strongly with viewers.

The Crystal Simorgh for Best Documentary Film was awarded to Zohreh Najafzadeh for “Standing by the Thames.” Her documentary, set partly abroad, examined themes of displacement and identity, connecting personal narratives with broader social realities.

Following these awards, a traditional music ensemble took the stage. As they performed, images of filmmakers who had passed away during the year were displayed on a large screen. The tribute segment served as a reminder of the artistic lineage that continues to shape contemporary cinema.

The ceremony then moved to the Simorgh Longing section for feature-length films. With jury members present, the awards in technical and artistic categories were announced.
