From exile to Germany to jewelry making in Berlin; who is “Prince Babak Qajar”?

The Emergence of Babak Qajar

According to biographical narratives published online, the man known publicly as Babak Qajar also identifies himself as Babak Peter Pedar. He presents himself as a descendant of Fath Ali Shah Qajar and the son of Ramazan Ali Mirza Khan Qajar—also referred to as Ramadan Pedar in some accounts—and Mahindokht Qajar (born Mahindokht Qotbi).

The available narrative states that Ramazan Ali Mirza Khan Qajar was born on May 1, 1922, in Baku and died in Berlin in 2007. His life story, as told in personal accounts, describes displacement amid 20th-century political upheavals. It is said that he left Iran in 1956 with limited resources, eventually establishing himself in Berlin as a businessman and real estate investor. The narrative emphasizes resilience, entrepreneurship, and the rebuilding of family fortunes in exile.

Mahindokht Qajar, Babak’s mother, is described as having been born in Ardabil in 1947 and as being related to Farideh Qotbi, the mother of Empress Farah Pahlavi. Such claims, while noteworthy, remain part of personal biography rather than publicly verified genealogical records.
