However, the Shah’s wife, Farah Diba, had reportedly told him that the French doctors in Cairo had taken over the Shah’s care and that there was no need for an American medical team.
This situation, which involved conflicting reports about the Shah’s medical care, became a point of contention among those who were closely involved in the Shah’s treatment. Armao expressed frustration about the situation, as it appeared that efforts to save the Shah’s life had been thwarted by disagreements between the French and American medical teams. According to Armao, the French doctors had become reluctant to accept the American doctors, fearing that their presence would be seen as an intrusion. This created tension, and some later speculated that the French doctors’ lack of cooperation may have contributed to the Shah’s death. This theory, however, remains a subject of debate.
