Romantic Youth in Parvaz Park, Saadat Abad: Love, Freedom, and Everyday Life in Tehran During War

Youth Culture in Tehran: Love in a Time of Crisis

The youth of Tehran have always found ways to express themselves, even within the boundaries of social expectations and political realities. In Saadat Abad, one of the more modern and affluent districts, this expression often takes shape in parks, cafes, and public spaces.

During the war, however, these expressions carry new weight.

In Parvaz Park, couples walk side by side, hands brushing gently, sometimes embracing despite the tension that lingers in the air. Friends gather in small circles, sharing laughter, cigarettes, and conversations that move between the ordinary and the existential.

For many young Iranians, the park represents a temporary escape from the pressures of daily life. It is a place where they can reclaim moments of normalcy—where love, friendship, and human connection take center stage.
