Their arrival creates an unexpected disturbance in Makhmal’s comfortable life. As Grandma’s only and most beloved cat, Makhmal is not happy about sharing his home and the attention of his owner with newcomers. He initially considers the new family unwanted guests and reacts with hostility toward them. The arrival of the chickens introduces a new dynamic into the household and becomes the source of numerous humorous situations and conflicts.
The main source of comedy comes from the differences between the characters and their reactions to living together. Makhmal’s jealousy, the chickens’ behavior, Mr. Hanaei and Mrs. Gol-Baghali’s family life, and Grandma’s attempts to maintain peace create entertaining situations throughout the series. Although the characters sometimes disagree or misunderstand one another, their relationships gradually develop.
As the story progresses, Makhmal begins to change his attitude toward the other members of the household. One particularly important development occurs after Nabat is born. Makhmal gradually develops affection for her, showing that even a character who initially appears selfish or jealous can become caring and accepting. This transformation is an important emotional aspect of the story.
