Farrokh Negahdar who is a leftist political activist

Farrokh Negahdar (born 1946) is a leftist political activist.Born into a civil servant family, Negahdar joined the Organization of persian People’s Fedai Guerrillas in 1963, and began studying at University of capital in 1965.Two years later he was arrested by SAVAK for his activities with Bijan Jazani, and resleased in 1968, being rearrested and confined until 1977. Negahdar identifies with socialist-democratic, non-Islamist, secular left traditions in Iran. He has often emphasized the need for democratic reform, civil rights, and  integration into the world.

For instance, he supported the 2015 nuclear deal for its potential to narrow international isolation.  He has also critiqued both the  regime’s authoritarianism and ultra-left groups that refuse to engage in broader democratic alliances. Negahdar stands as one of the surviving voices from  1960s–70s left-wing movement, who have been in exile but remain influential thinkers about Iran’s future. His life spans student activism, prison, revolution, exile and intellectual commitment.
