Celebrating Excellence in Film and Television

The American Film Institute Awards (AFI Awards) are annual honors presented by the American Film Institute to recognize outstanding achievements in film and television. Established in 2000, the awards celebrate excellence in storytelling, artistic merit, and cultural impact rather than following traditional competitive categories. Each year, AFI selects a list of the Top 10 Films and Top 10 Television Programs produced in the United States, along with special awards for significant contributions to the art of moving images.

The AFI Awards are known for their emphasis on quality and influence, and the ceremony is typically an intimate event attended by filmmakers, actors, and industry leaders. AFI evaluates works based on artistic quality, innovation, social impact, and contribution to the evolution of visual storytelling. In addition to the yearly top lists, AFI also presents Special Awards to individuals, organizations, or projects that have made a meaningful and lasting contribution to the medium.
