Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as the Al-Nusra , al-Qaeda in Syria, or al-Qaeda in the Levant, is a Salafist jihadist terrorist organization fighting against the forces of the Syrian government in the Syrian Civil War, with the aim of establishing an Islamic state in the country. It was the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda until 2016,and also operates in neighbouring Lebanon.
