During this time, he also conducted interviews with artistic and cultural figures in the region, including interviews with Najib Mahfouz, a famous Egyptian writer and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature; Youssef Shahin, a famous Egyptian filmmaker; and Mustafa Akkad, a famous Syrian filmmaker and producer of films by Mohammad Rasulullah and Omar Mukhtar.
