Afterwards, he studied the cinema at Columbia University in New York City. He has directed, written and produced numerous award-winning documentary films about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. As an independent documentary filmmaker he was witness to the atrocities committed during the eight-year Iran-Iraq war of the mid-1980s.
