Zarif alongside Araghchi at a ceremony honoring Kamal Kharrazi

A commemoration ceremony honoring the late Seyyed Kamal Kharrazi, Iran’s former Foreign Minister and Head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, was held in Tehran with the participation of senior Iranian diplomatic officials, prominent political figures, and foreign ambassadors stationed in the Iranian capital. The ceremony also marked the inauguration of the “Martyr Seyyed Kamal Kharrazi Documentation Center and Museum,” established to preserve and present the diplomatic, political, academic, and intellectual legacy of one of Iran’s most experienced foreign policy figures.

The commemorative gathering brought together several generations of Iranian diplomats and foreign policy officials, reflecting Kharrazi’s extensive contributions to the country’s international relations over more than four decades.

Among the distinguished participants were Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Head of the Center for Political Studies, and Majid Takht-Ravanchi, a veteran Iranian diplomat. A number of foreign ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions based in Tehran also attended the event.

The presence of senior officials and foreign diplomatic representatives highlighted Kharrazi’s longstanding engagement with international diplomacy and his influential role in shaping Iran’s foreign policy during several significant periods of the Islamic Republic’s history.

The ceremony provided an opportunity to revisit his professional achievements, examine his approach to international relations, and recognize his contributions to Iranian diplomacy, political thought, and academic development.
