Mostafa Mir-Salim, representative of the Islamic Council

Sayyid Mostafa Agha Mirsalim (born 10 June 1947) is a engineer and conservative politician. He is currently member of the Expediency Discernment Council and also a member of Islamic Consultative Assembly.He was a presidential candidate at the 2017 election which placed third with receiving 1.16% of the votes. Mirsalim was born into a religious family in Tehran and attended Alborz High School, an American-made institution often likened to Eton College.

He pursued higher education in France, earning a B.Sc. in Mechanics from the University of Poitiers in 1969. He then obtained two M.Sc. degrees: one in Mechanics from the École nationale supérieure de mécanique et d’aérotechnique and another in Fluid Mechanics & Thermodynamics from the University of Poitiers in 1971. In 1972, he completed a third M.Sc. in Internal Combustion Engines from the École Nationale Supérieure du Pétrole et des Moteurs.
