From his early ages, he was fascinated by cinema and filmmaking. This was the dream which he and his lifelong friend Masoud Kimiai (Iranian film director, screenwriter, and producer) shared. Finally, in 1967, when Masoud Kimiai got a chance to direct his first film (Come Stranger, 196, Monfaredzadeh composed the score. However, it was their second collaboration (Qeysar, 1969) that made history. Monfaredzadeh is most widely recognized for his work as a film composer, particularly during the Iranian New Wave cinema movement.
He brought an innovative sensibility to film music, blending traditional Persian instruments and melodies with modern orchestration. His compositions often evoke profound emotional resonance, enhancing the storytelling of iconic films. Often credited as one of the milestones of New Wave cinema, Monfaredzadeh’s music played a critical role in heightening the film’s dramatic intensity.
