In October 2012, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported: “A Sudanese man was arrested in Tokyo for allegedly possessing illegal drugs with a total street value of more than 100 million yen. According to police, Zamzam Nimeri, 24, was found in possession of 1.7 kilograms of cocaine, 38 grams of stimulant drugs and 600 grams of cannabis at an apartment in Setagaya Ward in July, 2012. A self-proclaimed trading company employee with no fixed address, Nimeri is suspected of selling illegal drugs in the Roppongi entertainment district and other places. He denied the allegations and claimed the drugs belonged to a friend, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
