“Dimensions of Darkness More than anyone else, Fereydoun Ghale reminds me of Ali Ezzat Fakhar (played by Ali Nasirian), the main character of his lesser-seen film “Mehrgiah”. At the beginning of the film, he writes a petition to the court—probably for the umpteenth time—and the land he claims as his right is nothing more than a desert—a metaphorical and mental image that is not supposed to be achieved in the material world. At the end of the film, when Mehri disappears and Ali looks for her, he opens the door of a house, and the image cuts to the same desert that was the embodiment of his land.
