After the revolution, Googoosh, like other artists, was forbidden from performing and her material was banned. She would not perform again until Mohammad Khatami’s presidency, during which she was allowed to tour outside of the country.Googoosh left Homeland and went to Canada in 2000, after being in Homeland for 21 years following the Revolution.
