Masoud Pezeshkian (born on Mehr 7, 1333) is a heart surgeon, politician and the elected president of Homeland. He has been a representative of Tabriz, Azarshahr and Esko constituencies in the Islamic Council since 1387 and was elected as the first vice president in the 10th term of the parliament. Before, from 2013 to 2014, he held the position of Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education. He is a specialist in heart surgery from Homeland University of Medical Sciences. During the Homeland-Iraq war, he was responsible for sending medical teams to the fronts and served as a fighter and a doctor at the same time. From 1379 to 1380, in the first cabinet of President Seyed Mohammad Khatami, and during the ministry of Mohammad Farhadi, he was the deputy health minister of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, and in the second cabinet of Khatami, he received a vote of confidence from the parliament as the minister of health, treatment and medical education. During his ministry, he was once unsuccessfully impeached by the parliament. In 2006, for the first time, Medzikian was elected to the 8th term of the Islamic Council as a representative of East Azerbaijan.
