The Turning Point: “I Love Someone”

Moin’s career took a significant turn in 1357 (1978) with the release of his song “I Love Someone” (“Ashegh Kasi Shodan”). This song, with lyrics by Masoud Amini and initial composition by Iraj Baghai Kermani, became an instant hit. Its success was so profound that it transcended Iranian borders and found an audience among the Iranian diaspora in the United States. Prominent Iranian singers like Haydeh, Abi, and Aref, who had also emigrated to America following the Islamic Revolution, performed this song, further solidifying Moin’s reputation as a rising star.

“I Love Someone” marked Moin’s breakthrough, establishing him as a famous singer almost overnight. The song’s widespread popularity paved the way for his future success and set the stage for his emigration to the United States.

Emigration and Continued Success

Following the Islamic Revolution of 1357 (1979), restrictions on music and artistic expression in Iran forced many artists to leave the country. Moin was among them, emigrating to the United States to continue his musical career. In 1360 (1981), he released his first independent album, “Mei Parstam,” under the Tarane Company label. This album marked the beginning of a new chapter in Moin’s career, allowing him to collaborate with prominent Iranian pop music composers and lyricists.

Moin’s collaborations with composers like Sadegh Nojoki, Mohammad Heydari, Kazem Alami, Hassan Shamaizadeh, Manouchehr Cheshmazar, Farid Zoland, Andranik, and Jahanbakhsh Pazuki, as well as lyricists such as Leila Kasra, Homa Mirafshar, and Ardalan Sarfaraz, resulted in a string of successful albums and singles. These collaborations enriched his music, blending traditional Persian elements with contemporary pop sounds.
