The floods in July 2024 have exposed significant weaknesses in North Korea’s disaster management capabilities. The country’s aging infrastructure, lack of effective early warning systems, and inadequate disaster preparedness measures all contributed to the severity of the damage. If North Korea is to avoid similar disasters in the future, it will need to invest in improving its infrastructure and disaster response capabilities.
