Theater and Artistic Beginnings
Babak’s journey into the world of theater began with a deep passion for storytelling and performance. He took his first steps on stage in the 1950s, becoming a prominent presence in Iran’s theater scene. His performances were marked by a commitment to authenticity and artistic integrity. Recognizing the need to promote theater among younger generations, Babak founded the first art group of the Intellectual Development Center for Children and Adolescents. Through this initiative, he aimed to nurture young talents and introduce them to the transformative power of the performing arts.
Transition to Cinema
While theater remained Babak’s first love, he soon transitioned into cinema, making his big-screen debut in 1977 with “Tara’s Guerrilla,” a film directed by the renowned Bahram Beizai. This movie marked the beginning of his film career, opening doors to a series of impactful roles in Iranian cinema. His ability to portray complex characters with depth and nuance earned him recognition from both critics and audiences.
