World Nutella Day: A Celebration of Chocolate and Hazelnut Delight

Every year on February 5th, Nutella lovers around the world come together to celebrate World Nutella Day. Nutella has become an international phenomenon, with millions of people incorporating it into their breakfasts, desserts, and snacks. From its humble beginnings in Italy to its status as a global favorite, Nutella’s journey is nothing short of remarkable.

The History of Nutella

Nutella was first introduced by Italian pastry maker Pietro Ferrero in Alba, a small town in the Piedmont region of Italy. Ferrero, the founder of Ferrero SpA, also created some of the world’s most well-known confectionery brands, including Tic Tac, Kinder Chocolate, and Ferrero Rocher. His vision for Nutella was born out of necessity during World War II when cocoa was scarce. To stretch his supply, he added hazelnuts to the chocolate mixture, creating a solid chocolate-hazelnut product called “Giandujot.”
