Some rare photos of Ahmadinejad

Second Term (2009-2013)

One of the hallmarks of his first term was the Economic Transformation Plan, which included the rationing of fuel and the gradual removal of subsidies on essential goods such as fuel, water, electricity, and food. While the subsidies were replaced with direct cash payments to citizens, the program was criticized for contributing to high inflation and economic instability.

Internationally, Ahmadinejad adopted a defiant stance, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Under his administration, Iran expanded its uranium enrichment activities, leading to increased tensions with Western countries. This resulted in economic sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council, the United States, and the European Union.

Ahmadinejad also made headlines for his controversial statements, including questioning the Holocaust and calling for Israel’s dissolution. His rhetoric and foreign policy stance led to strained relations with Western nations but strengthened ties with countries like Venezuela, Syria, and Russia.
