Dariush was the second of five siblings, growing up in a family that valued education and culture. His older brother, Anoushirvan Arjomand, was also a respected actor in the Iranian film and television industry before his passing. The Arjomand legacy continues through his children and nephews, notably Amiril Arjomand, Borzo Arjomand, and Bahar Arjomand.
Education and Early Interest in Cinema
Dariush Arjomand’s academic journey began at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, where he majored in history and sociology. One of the most influential figures in his academic life was Ali Shariati, a prominent Iranian sociologist and revolutionary thinker. The intellectual atmosphere of Ferdowsi University during the 1960s left a lasting impression on Arjomand and shaped his worldview.
Driven by a passion for the arts, Arjomand moved to Paris to further his education. He earned a master’s degree in theater and cinema from the prestigious Sorbonne University. His time in Paris not only refined his craft but also exposed him to European styles of cinema and acting techniques, which later enriched his performances back in Iran.
