Although her ancestry is firmly rooted in Iran, Khalatbari grew up outside the country. She was raised and educated in England, a formative environment that exposed her to Western culture, media traditions, and academic structures from an early age. Growing up in a multicultural society allowed her to develop a nuanced understanding of identity, language, and communication—an understanding that would later become central to her professional work.
Living in England also meant navigating the experience of being part of the Iranian diaspora, balancing cultural heritage with integration into Western society.
