Enayat Bakhshi, actor before and after the revolution, passes away

In the Sultan Mar Theater, under Beizai’s direction, he performed six different roles on stage—an achievement that testified to his adaptability and stamina. His performances often drew on traditional forms such as Ta’ziyeh chanting and Naqqali storytelling, traditions with which many theater-trained actors were familiar from youth. These influences enriched his stage presence, giving his performances a ceremonial gravity.

Not all productions enjoyed smooth runs. Some plays faced obstacles, cancellations, or temporary suspensions. One such example was Interrogation, directed by Parviz Sayyad, which encountered interference from state authorities. Despite these interruptions, Bakhshi remained steadfast, viewing theater not merely as entertainment but as cultural dialogue.

In 2019, he received the first Sanglaj Award for his lifelong dedication to theater, sharing the honor with distinguished colleagues such as Ali Nasirian and Mohammad Ali Keshavarz. The award symbolized recognition from peers who understood the rigor and sacrifice inherent in sustained stage work.
