The Untold Story

Although his mother became one of the most celebrated and recognizable figures in Persian music history, Kambiz chose to pursue his own artistic path. Rather than following the traditional style of pop music that made Googoosh famous, he became interested in modern Western musical genres, particularly hip-hop and rap. During a period when Persian-language rap was still largely unknown, Kambiz experimented with blending Persian lyrics and contemporary urban music styles.

His album Chocolate (Shokolat) is often cited as one of the early works that contributed to the emergence of Persian hip-hop. At a time when rap music had not yet gained widespread popularity among Iranian audiences, Kambiz helped introduce new sounds and creative approaches to Persian-language music. His work reflected the experiences of younger generations living between cultures and demonstrated how artists in the diaspora were adapting global musical trends to their own cultural backgrounds.
