Before entering television, Qanad started his professional career in theatre. Working on stage allowed him to develop skills in directing, acting, script interpretation, and audience engagement. Theatre also helped him understand the importance of live performance, timing, teamwork, and creative storytelling.
These early experiences shaped his later television work. Many of the techniques used in children’s television—including audience participation, expressive acting, humour, and educational storytelling—have strong roots in theatrical performance. His theatrical background distinguished him from many television presenters and contributed to his dynamic style.
Entry into Television
In 1976, Majid Qanad entered the world of television by joining the Abadan Broadcasting and Television Company. This marked the beginning of a lifelong career in broadcasting.
Television production during this period required professionals capable of performing multiple responsibilities. Qanad quickly gained experience in directing, producing, presenting, and programme planning. His willingness to work across different aspects of production allowed him to develop a comprehensive understanding of television.
His early years at Abadan provided practical experience that prepared him for much larger responsibilities in the future.
