Agatha Christie, one of the world’s most famous mystery writers, also had jobs outside writing. During the First World War, she worked as a nurse and later as a pharmacy assistant. Her knowledge of medicines and poisons became useful in some of her detective stories. Her experiences during wartime also gave her a broader understanding of people and difficult situations.
Jack London had many different jobs before becoming a successful writer. He worked in factories, on ships, and in other physically demanding occupations. He also traveled widely and experienced poverty and hardship. These experiences influenced many of his adventure stories, including The Call of the Wild and White Fang. His writing often reflects his knowledge of nature, survival, work, and human struggle.
