Masoud Kimiaei (born August 7, 1320) is a filmmaker and writer. He is considered one of the main figures of the new wave of Iranian cinema.  He has been considered an influential director who played an important role in the formation of the cinema economy in Iran . Kimiaei is also known as the master of hero creation in Persian cinema.  By making the film Qaiser (1348), he connected the two poles of cinematic art and commerce, and along with several other filmmakers, he initiated the period that became known as the new wave in Persian cinema.
