Rare pictures from Fereydoon Forooghi

Fereydoon Foroughi (1951 – 2001) He contributed greatly to persian music and arts and his unique voice and style soon caught on with the people. In addition to his studies in acting, playing the guitar, piano and organ he also composed music. His style was inspired by jazz and blues. He started his professional work in 1971 with the film “Adamak” by Khosrow Haritash. “Adamak” was done by Touraj Shaabankhani and the vocals were by Foroughi.

Songs like “Yar-e Dabestani-ye Man” evoke childhood memories and the innocence of youth, tapping into universal feelings of nostalgia. While subtle, some of Foroughi’s lyrics addressed societal constraints and personal freedom, reflecting the struggles of living under censorship or social expectations. His lyrics frequently explore the human condition, mortality, and the search for meaning, giving his music a philosophical depth rare in popular music of his era.
