Rare pictures from Fereydoon Forooghi

Fereydoon Foroughi (1951 – 2001) He contributed greatly to persian music and arts and his unique voice and style soon caught on with the people. In addition to his studies in acting, playing the guitar, piano and organ he also composed music. His style was inspired by jazz and blues. He started his professional work in 1971 with the film “Adamak” by Khosrow Haritash. “Adamak” was done by Touraj Shaabankhani and the vocals were by Foroughi.

Less known internationally but admired among Iranian music enthusiasts, this track showcases Foroughi’s ability to blend storytelling with subtle musical complexity. Even during the periods of censorship, Foroughi continued to create music, some of which was circulated privately among fans. These rare tracks often display a more experimental side of Foroughi, blending jazz, rock, and Persian musical traditions in ways that were ahead of his time. Collectors and music historians treasure these recordings as a window into the artist’s creative evolution.
