The first female serial killer in homeland


‘Mahin in her confessions has said that she has been taking patterns from Agatha Christie books and has been trying not to leave any trace of herself,’ prosecutor Mohammad Baqer Olfat told journalists.The suspect is claimed to have is said to have carefully chosen her victims, targeting elderly and middle-aged women and offering them lifts home after picking them up at shrines in the city where they had been praying. She is also said to have admitted earlier murders of her former landlord and an aunt.

In 2008, the city of Qazvin, was shaken by a series of mysterious murders. Five elderly women were found dead under similar circumstances, their lives abruptly ended by someone who moved undetected among them. The culprit turned out to be Mahin Ghadiri, a 30-year-old housewife and mother, whose confession later stunned the nation. Until then, Mahin had appeared like any other woman in her neighborhood — polite, quiet, and deeply devoted to her family.
