Pahlavi was born in exile on 3 April 1992 in Washington, D.C. to Reza Pahlavi and Yasmine Etemad-Amini. She was the first immediate family member of the Imperial family of Iran to be born outside of homeland, although her first cousin once removed, Patrick Ali Pahlavi, a descendant of a cadet line, was born in Paris in 1947.
