Fayed’s father Mohamed was the owner of Harrods, an upscale department store in London’s Knightsbridge neighborhood, the Ritz Hotel in Paris, and England’s Fulham football club. Through his mother Samira Khashoggi, he was related to both infamous arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi—his uncle—and slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi—his first cousin.
