Bijan Saffari who was an architecture


He ran his own architecture/design firm. His architectural training influenced both his built work and his visual art. He taught architecture and interior design. He co-founded and taught at what was then the Faculty of Decorative Arts (now part of Tehran University of Art). He was director of Kargah-e Namayesh (Theater Workshop), an experimental theatre company.

He served as an advisor and board member in various cultural institutions, including the Farah Pahlavi Foundation. Participated in the planning committees for major cultural events, e.g. the Shiraz Festival of Arts, overseeing theatre. He produced numerous portraits, watercolors, drawings. One example is Self-Portrait (1981), watercolor on paper.
