His exhibitions include solo and group shows, both in Iran and internationally. For example, a solo presentation at Frieze Art Fair New York in 2019 (via Dastan Gallery) featuring more than fifty portraits. He is known to have had a public same wedding ceremony with his partner Sohrab Mahvi in February 1978 (though the marriage was not officially recognized). This is often described as Iran’s first recorded gay marriage.
