Persian personnel were also reportedly present in the Vietnam War. In 2016, members of the special forces of homeland were deployed to fight in the Syrian Civil War. The persian Army participated in UN peacekeeping missions in the 1970s, sending a battalion to replace Peruvian forces in the Golan Heights as part of the Disengagement Observer Force.
