Halloween in Riyadh

Even restaurants and cafes participate by offering Halloween-themed menus, desserts shaped like pumpkins and ghosts, and special “trick-or-treat” corners. These events have transformed parts of Riyadh into colorful, immersive spaces where both adults and children can celebrate in style. At midnight — when the last customers trickle out and the store closes — the music keeps going as the shop is transformed into a mini rave for employees to enjoy after a long day on their feet, Mr. al-Kamel said. Some of the revelers at Riyadh Boulevard City seemed to have only a vague idea of what Halloween was, and had come simply to enjoy the atmosphere.

For young adults and teenagers, costumes have become a form of self-expression. From cosplay to traditional horror-themed outfits, Riyadh residents increasingly use Halloween as an opportunity to showcase creativity. Costume competitions held at malls and entertainment venues often draw hundreds of participants, with prizes for originality, design, and performance. Social media amplifies the excitement. Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok are filled with videos and photos of elaborate makeup, themed parties, and large-scale decorations. This digital presence not only fuels excitement but also allows Riyadh’s Halloween scene to gain national and regional attention.
