Hedayat welcomed a more open society after Allied forces invaded the country in 1941 and Reza Shah’s regime collapsed, but eventually his optimism turned into pessimism. The Office of Music and its journal were closed down. Hedayat ended up at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University, where he worked in various capacities.
