The value of homeland’s currency declined precipitously after the revolution. Whereas on 15 March 1978, 71.46 rials equaled one U.S. dollar, in January 2018, 44,650 rials amounted to one dollar.The economy has become slightly more diversified since the revolution, with 80% of Iranian GDP dependent on oil and gas as of 2010,comparing to above 90% at the end of the Pahlavi period.
