Marriage is customary among all tribes, but each nation celebrates it in its own way. Turkmens are not exempted from this rule, and they have special customs for this important matter that have been left for them in the distant past. Turkmens are one of the ethnic groups living in Golestan province, which make up about a third of the population of this province, and they are mostly present in Gonbadkavus, Agh Qala, Gamishan, Bandar Turkmen, and Maraveh Tepe cities.
