Simin Rejali; first female professor at the National University


If psychology is still considered by many to be associated with psychoanalysis and Freud, and if Freudian psychoanalysis relates many things to childhood, then perhaps it can be said that Simin Rejali’s becoming a psychologist is also rooted in his childhood. “I spent my early years at Bersaba Kindergarten. I still consider that period to be the best season of my life. It was in Bersaba that I fell in love with learning and knowing. Maybe it was this good experience in kindergarten that made me determined to emphasize the importance of preschool education.

In 2013, she published her autobiography, A Symphony of Life: Triumph of Education over Adversity – A Journey of a Persian-American Woman, where she chronicled her journey from Tehran to Heidelberg to Washington, D.C. The memoir combines personal reflection with historical documentation of Iran’s sociopolitical transformations, especially concerning women’s rights and education during the Pahlavi era. Beyond her memoir, Redjali authored numerous academic papers on child psychology, educational reform, and women’s welfare, often bridging Western methodologies with Iranian cultural contexts.
