Fereydon Tawangari, torturer of Savak and known as Arash


SAVAK, established in 1957 with the help of the CIA and Mossad, was notorious for its brutal methods of interrogation and suppression of political dissent. Tawangari’s role within this organization involved supervising and participating in the interrogation and torture of detainees. He became one of the most feared interrogators in the Joint Anti-Sabotage Committee, a unit within SAVAK responsible for dealing with political dissidents and suspected insurgents.The accusations against Tawangari are numerous and harrowing. He was directly implicated in several cases of torture that led to the death or severe injury of political prisoners. Some of the most heinous acts attributed to him include:Torture Leading to Death: Tawangari was accused of supervising and participating in tortures that resulted in the deaths of several individuals, including Mahosh Jasmi, Hedayat Bakhowish, and Mahmoud Jalilzadeh Shabestri. These individuals were reportedly members of the Mujahideen or other groups opposing the Shah’s regime.
