Hossein Shariatmadari, director of Keyhan newspaper

Farhad Behbahani, a member of the Jamiat for Defense of the Freedom and Sovereignty of the Persian Nation, mentions him as one of his interrogators in the book “Der Mehmani Haj Agha,” who was called “Brother Hossein” in prison. Shariatmadari denied this issue and once replied: I have never been an interrogator, but I have regretted many times why the reward of being an interrogator in the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran was not recorded in my deeds. He also wrote in an article on January 5, 1378, in the newspaper Kayhan, of which he was the responsible editor: I was invited to discuss and talk with a group of prisoners by Hojjatul Islam Majid Ansari… I consider that time one of the most blessed days of my life, as a result of which a significant number of group elements were cut off from the revolution and the people returned to the embrace of the revolution and the nation. According to the New York Times report, “He [Hussein Shariatmadari] acknowledged that he cooperated in certain cases where he was asked to speak with prisoners and said, “Of course, the fact that I was not an interrogator does not mean that the work of the interrogators I do not confirm, and I am sorry that I have not succeeded in such a service.”
