On August 13, 1392, by the decree of the leader of Iran, Ahmadinejad became a member of the Expediency Recognition Council as a natural person. He succeeded Hassan Rouhani, who was elected as the 11th president of Iran by the people. During his presidency, Ahmadinejad recorded the most absenteeism in the sessions of the Assembly and raised various criticisms against its members. Ahmadinejad’s absences without justification continued during his membership as a real person in the Assembly. Ahmadinejad was again absent from the first session of the Assembly held after the 11th government came to power (August 26), so that during the years 2004 to August 2013, he participated in only two sessions of the assembly. After finishing his presidency, Ahmadinejad continued his provincial trips and visited many provinces. Ebtekar newspaper described the goals of these trips as populism and reaching out to the rural and marginalized population to attract public opinion and early election activities.
