Muharram (lit. ’sacred’) is the first month of the Islamic calendar, renowned for its profound religious significance. This month, comprising at most thirty days, is marked by the prohibition of warfare, a tradition that predates the advent of Islam. The term “Muharram” originates from “Muharram Safar” (lit. ’sacred Safar’), differentiating between Safar I, which was considered sacred, and Safar II, which was not, in the ancient Arab calendar.
