Jamshid Hashempour, also known by his stage name Jamshid Aria, is a legendary figure in Iranian cinema. Born on April 3, 1323 (April 24, 1944), in Tehran, Hashempour began his illustrious career at the age of 24. Over the years, he has starred in more than 100 films and several home show series, becoming one of Iran’s most beloved and enduring actors. Early Life and Introduction to Cinema
Jamshid Hashempour was born in the bustling city of Tehran, on Selsbeil Street, to parents from Ardabil. He pursued his education in mathematics, a field far removed from the cinematic world he would later dominate. In his youth, Hashempour developed a keen interest in martial arts, training in disciplines such as Kung Fu Toa and Taekwondo under the tutelage of Ahmed Rudbari. He also mastered Shotokan-style karate from Korosh Kordani.
Hashempour’s foray into acting was somewhat serendipitous. His good looks and impressive physique caught the attention of a friend, who introduced him to the renowned Iranian director Samuel Khachikian. Khachikian cast Hashempour in the 1967 film “Jahannam Sefid” (White Hell), marking the beginning of his acting career.
