During her teenage years, she became an active member of literary associations and poetry reading circles. These gatherings allowed her to explore her poetic talent, and by 1948, she ventured into the world of radio to recite poetry and deliver spoken word performances. This marked the beginning of a lifelong journey in the arts.
Education and Early Career
Jhaleh Aloo completed her primary education at Noakhtaran Elementary School and her secondary studies at Khosrokhavar High School. Her passion for the arts led her to enroll in Capital Preparatory School, from which she graduated in 1948, and subsequently, the Tehran Acting Academy, where she earned her degree in 1949.
Her artistic career began in 1948 with live radio broadcasts, where she worked as a speaker and program announcer. She quickly became known for her eloquence and ability to captivate audiences through her voice. Aloo’s involvement in radio plays, particularly as one of the founders of the popular program Dastan Shab (Story of the Night), cemented her position as a pioneer in Iranian radio. Her first live radio play, Dukhtar Khorshid (The Daughter of the Sun), directed by Nosratollah Mohtasham, showcased her talent and marked her entry into the dramatic arts.
Her musical performances on the radio led her to adopt the stage name “Jhaleh,” a name that became synonymous with artistic excellence.
